Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27, 2010) - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on that part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. In reality, the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine all the way west. The West Island is frequently referred to as the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her stay at the island was infrequent. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa, Ontario. Her first ambition was to become a performer, but she simply outgrew her dancers. The article she wrote about her experience revealed published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. Former dancers often turn to acting, and Brugel was not an exception. An instructor in drama at her high school pushed Brugel in her direction that she required. The teacher suggested that she pursue a role for the school's annual production. She auditioned and eventually got the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. For the last two decades, Brugel's career has seen her appear in over 60 films and television productions. The most well-known role was as Rita (shown in the video below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian of the Season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
