Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American artist and a sitarist, is most well-known for her music. She is the youngest woman and was the first person to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. She was a child who bounded back and forth from London to New Delhi. As a teenager, her first show was in New Delhi took place. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. The career of Anouskha as a performer and recorder is quite impressive, in spite of her young age. She has performed with her father on stage for many years. The singer made Anourag her first solo album in 1998. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Since she's performed at every major stage in the world, her stage career is extensive. Anoushka isn't just a performer. Bapi the love of My Live, a biographical picture dedicated to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. in 2003 she starred as a character in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to unfold and we are likely to see many things from her in years to follow. Anoushka was born in England however, she spent the majority of her growing up between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to high school. She began studying music when she was nine years old and was a sitar player for the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi the following year. The father of Anoushka travelled across the world with her and she was able to gain many new experiences. While still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. She was the youngest and sole female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament for her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
